What Are The Different Levels Of System Control Available To You?

VOLUME CONTROLS

The lowest level of multiroom control, is volume controls installedin the rooms of your home. This way, you can adjust the volume in the room that you’re in;

you don’t have to walk or run back to where all of the equipment is located to adjust the volume.

It’s a lot easier using a system in this manner.

If you didn’t have individual volume controls in each room, everyone would have to listen to the same volume, in all of the rooms.

So…

You can adjust the volume to particular levels in different rooms depending on the circumstances.

If someone is sleeping you can turn the volume in that room down or off. If the phone rings, you just walk over and turn the volume down, and turn it up once the phone call is over.

KEYPADS

The next level up of control is wall mounted keypads. Keypads offer convenience, ease of use and system flexibility.

With increased control and flexibility you’ll enjoy the system in your home.

Don’t forget….

If it’s not easy to use you won’t use the darn thing!

The touch panel systems are the most expensive. People think that the more expensive the system, the harder it will be to use. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The more expensive the system, the easier the system is to use!

Not only will a touch panel show you the name of the song but some systems will actually copy the CD cover or so as you scroll you’ll be able to choose your favorite CD.

Today you have a choice of different music and video distribution systems to choose from. Where we used to distribute FM and CD, today we distribute XM radio, mp3, Internet streamed music, DVDs and satellite TV. Enhancing or complicating the situation depends upon the level of control you have over your system because of the equipment installed.

Remember…

It’s not so much the brands that matter, it’s that the system is set up so that you can use the darn thing.

“It’s true…” have more fun when the multi-room audio-video system is well thought out, custom designed and easy to use. Very often installed systems are not thought out properly, do not work and are user unfriendly by their very nature.

When I first got back into the home theater and home automation field after selling my physician’s practice, (see about us in our website www.audiovisionsetc.com) I was installing some pretty simple multi-room, volume-control and speaker based systems. Actually these are pretty good, although lack user control.

As the systems got more complex, I started selling and programming keypad based systems. These are pads on the wall with buttons. By their very nature, these systems are inflexible and lack ease of operation. If designed properly, these mid-priced systems offer you more control than volume controls alone.
